Argos
Argos (Argus) was a powerful giant and servant of Hera.
Greek Mythology
In Greek mythology, Argus Panoptes (Ἄργος Πανόπτης) or Argos was a primordial giant, guardian of Io and son of Alester. He was also called "all-seeing" and because of that was described as multi-eyed, strong creature, whose eyes would never sleep. He was Hera's servant, and his greatest servitude to Olympus was the slaying of Echidna. Later, Zeus brought a nymph named Io to Olympus, but because of Hera's jealousy, he disguised her as a beautiful whitecow. But Hera was not fooled, and she tied Io to a pole with Argos guarding the cow. However, Zeus asked Hermes to slay Argos, and he succeeded, by putting the giant to sleep with his music. After Io was freed, a distraught Hera sent a gadfly to chase Io out of Greece. Io traveled to Egypt where she is attributed with becoming a goddess and birthing a Pharaoh. Hera then removed all but two of Argos' eyes and placed them on the tail feathers of the peacock, Hera's favorite bird.

Argos, was sent by the gods to stop Kratos, the new God of War, because he and his Spartan army sought to bring an end to balance in Greece. Kratos fought him on several occasions, but Argos always escaped. Later, during their fight, Argos fell into a sewer, where he was slain by an unknown assassin, in order for Kratos to be blamed for its murder and the siege in the city.

Powers and Abilities
Argos is a very slow, but powerful brute, and has an ability to jump to great distances. Sporting many eyes across his massive body, he even has one right inside his mouth.
Trivia
- According to some myths, when he was killed Hera took his eyes and placed them on the tail-feathers of the peacock, her sacred bird, to commemorate his services.
- Argos is also the name of a city-state in Greece, famous for being the birthplace of Perseus.
