Combos are integral parts of the combat system in the God of War series. As Kratos accumulates consecutive hits, he's then rewarded with bonus Red Orbs. There are numerous ways to rack up combos, including use of magic powers (preferably Poseidon's Rage and Cronos' Rage) and performing special kills.

In God of War II, while Rage of Titans is activated, the combo meter doesn't go down. The Urn of the Fates also allows to extend the time for doing combos.

According to the total amount of orb at each milestone, stopping at 2000 combo hit is the wise decision if the player is looking only to farm orbs. Other than the achievement of making it to 999,999 combo hits, the extreme drop in orbs per combo it makes it unworthwhile to go any further than 2000 combo hits.
