He was the driving force behind the generation of noew life in the early cosmos. The Orphics knew him as Phanes, a primal being hatched from the world egg at creation. He was also equivalent to Thesis, "Creation," and Physis, "Nature."

His equivalent in Roman mythology was Cupid ("Desire"). Some myths make him a primordial god, while in other myths, he is the son of Ares and Aphrdoite.

Abilities

Eros presumably possesses the standard powers of a god, though, as a Primordial deity born out of Chaos, Eros is very powerful.

  • Amokinesis: As the God of Love and desire, Eros has absolute control and divine authority over love, lust, and desire, far superior to that of Aphrodite's.

Trivia

  • "Erotic" comes from Eros. Hence, Eros is the god of erotic desires.
  • His Roman equivalent, Cupid, is also called "Amor" which is Latin for Love.
