The Hand Cavern is the first part of the Lair of Typhon that Kratos comes to after flying into the mountain on the Pegasus. The Pegasus then ends up getting trapped underneath one of Typhon's gigantic hands. Kratos needs to free the Pegasus, but he doesn't have the power to lift the fingers, as stated by Gaia. Kratos returns to the cavern after freeing Prometheus and gaining the Rage of the Titans ability. With it, he is able to lift up the hand and free the Pegasus, and then continue his quest to find the Sisters of Fate.
