History[]
Throughout history, the battering ram was a common siege weapon. It is mainly used for breaking down enemy gates/doorways. When the Romans conquered the Mediterranean Basin, they used the battering ram to smash open the gates of a fortress or a city. The Battering ram was also in use during the Medieval period, only to be replaced by the arrival of gunpowder in the 15th Century.
In God of War: Chains of Olympus[]
In God of War: Chains of Olympus, while running through a small battlefield upon the shores of Attica, Kratos watches a group of Persian Warriors operating a battering ram when they are suddenly killed by an Ballista shot. Kratos then uses the ram itself to break down a doorway into the city.
