Those born frail or diseased must be thrown in the deepest chasm of Mount Taygetos!

King of Sparta

Mount Taygetos is a mountain range in the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece.

Greek HistoryEdit

Named after the nymph Taygete, Taygetus overlooks the cities of Sparta and Kalamata, whose skyline it dominates. In Byzantine times and up until the 19th century, the mountain was also known as Pentedaktylos (Greek for five-fingered, a common name during that period). The mountain range lies within the prefectures of Arcadia, Laconia and Messenia.

God of War ComicsEdit

With his daughter infected by disease, Kratos set out to find the healing nectar of the gods, Ambrosia, to prevent his daughter from being sacrificed. According to Spartan law, this would mean certain death by being thrown into Mount Taygetos' chasm. After an arduous journey, Kratos finally retrieved the Ambrosia, commandered a Roc, and flew back to Sparta. Immediately upon his arrival, Kratos witnessed Calliope being thrown into the chasm, leaving Kratos very little time to swoop in and save her from falling to her death. Lysandra then persuaded the King of Sparta to let Kratos cure Calliope of her illness, with the King giving his consent to do so. Kratos then gave the King the last drops of Ambrosia. The King then honorably promoted Kratos to the title of a captain.
