Spartan
From God of War Wiki
"You can still hold a sword! Spartans do not surrender!" - Kratos
[edit] Greek Mythology
To be a Spartan is not only to be from Sparta, but to be a powerful warrior. At birth, any babies deemed weak are left to die, and the remainder are trained from age 7 to become some of the ancient world's finest soldiers. The name Spartan of course comes from the fact that the Spartans are from the city-state of Sparta. Spartans are known to be extremely fierce and unforgiving, and are taught from their earliest years never to surrender or show mercy.
[edit] In the God of War Series
Kratos, the main character, is a Spartan himself. He grew up in the city, and rose to become its greatest general, leading his fellow Spartans to victory in many battles. After killing Ares, he was then worshiped by the Spartans as the new God of War (God). Under his reign, they conquered many cities and towns. Another warrior from the city is the Last Spartan, who plays several important roles throughout God of War II.
