Suicide Bluffs
From God of War Wiki
"In the end, knowing the visions of his past would never leave him, Kratos made his way to the bluffs overlooking the Aegean Sea." - Gaia
The Suicide Bluffs are the series of cliffs and bluffs that overlook the Aegean Sea on the outskirts of the city of Athens. They have what later turns out to be a Portal to Olympus at the top cliff, and at the bottom cliffs, there's a bridge that is actually a giant sword (the Blade of the Gods). The bluffs are appropriately named, because they are where Kratos attempts to end his life after learning that his nightmares and visions of his terrible deeds will never leave him.
At the very end of God of War: Chains of Olympus, Kratos is seen laying on a cliff, as the Gods take back their items from him. You then see that it's the same cliff at the top of the bluffs that he steps off of in God of War. This is most likely just to symbolize what is to come later on in Kratos' life.
